Truc Bach Lake


       Truc Bach Lake separated from the West lake by Thanh Nien street (the youth street). Thanh Nien street was named since 1957 according to the opinion of President Ho Chi Minh, after Hanoi student and the youth extended this street. In the past, its name is Co Ngu street, formed from a narrow embankment on a corner of West Lake.

       Truc Bach Lake was damed up by the people of Yen Hoa and Yen Quang village on the southeast corner of West Lake to feed the fish in the seventeenth century. It was an isolated lake, the lake went down in ancient documents. Trinh Giang lord (1729 - 1740) built here a palace called Truc Lam. Later, this palace became a place imprisoned imperial maid who had mistake.

       Truc Bach lake has many historic and unique buildings such as Quan Thanh Temple located on the southwest corner of the lake. Chau Long pagoda is on the east and An Tri temple - place of worship Uy Do, a hero against Mongol army.

       Truc Bach Lake with Ly Tu Trong Park and West lake form a harmonious overall nature , form a beautiful landscape of the Ha Noi capital.
